GINESA ORTEGA  

 

We are in presence of a self-made artist who, with the blow of curiosity, has become a pioneer in terms of musical versatility, daring to work on the most eclectic styles and thus breaking with the aesthetic stereotype of the conventional flamenco singer assuming over and over again such great artistic challenges which have become a reference for many other artists.

On “Ahora”, Ginesa introduces us her artistic harmony on edge, her thrilling performance of each of her songs, caressing each cord with her voice… knowing that the moment is now.

           

 

Born in France, and grown up in Barcelona. From her childhood, she showed great interest in Flamenco, establishing a close link with that art background.

At twelve years old, she began to sing in public, outstanding from her beginning, and winning various awards of national character. Trained to carry Flamenco with soul, Ginesa Ortega is considered one of the leading voices of the current Flamenco.

Leads a flamenco training,in which singing, dancer,the guitar and the percussion all take centre stage, making a tour around the various styles of this art in a show full of strength and passion

She registered for the record company (Harmonia Mundi), the original version for “cantaora” of "El Amor Brujo” by Manuel de Falla, it became an international hit, winning prestigious awards in classical music circles, International Festival of Music and Royal Albert Hall in London, Edinburgh Festival, Tanglewood Festival, Lincoln Center in New York, Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Montreal Symphony Orchestra (Canada), Jerusalem Festival in Israel, La Fenice in Venice ..... It also has recorded for Harmonia Mundi "Canciones Populares de Federico G ª Lorca".

 

 

 

                       VERSATILE ARTIST

 

Ginesa has great versatility and eclecticism. She is a concerned and versatile artist. She has established links in different musical styles without losing her flamenco identity. Her professional career has been developed so far among Flamenco, Jazz, Classical Music, Brazilian Music, Argentinian Tango. She has collaborated with “Teatro experimental de vanguardia”, as well as her role as a composer or the various  “LA adaptations to interpret texts by Universal Poets.

 Ginesa combines her role as a “cantaora” with regular collaborations with the theater group "La Fura dels Baus". This group is an icon in Vanguard Theater, which includes industrial elements, air shows and technology at the time of staging their macro shows. Some time ago, Ginesa collaborated on the musical part and she interpreted some scenes of the show. She has been with them in several tours around Europe. So far, she still collaborates at special events 2010 - 2015 (Australia, Romania, China, London,Mexico,France, Spain).
